Peraica Statement on Tax Relief Blockage

CHICAGO, IL – Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica released the following statement today regarding the county board’s failure to override Todd Stroger’s veto of their ordinance to repeal the sales tax increase:

“Todd Stroger and the commissioners who supported his veto today decided to keep the waste and tax the people – and they should be ashamed for punishing the taxpayers for the mismanagement of county government.

“I once again commend all those commissioners who held strong and voted to repeal the onerous sales tax increase.

“And thank you to the many constituents who made their voices heard in support of the tax repeal. Although your voices were ignored by some on this county board – they were heard loud and clear by most of us.”
