Peraica Re-Introduces Tax Repeal Ordinance
CHICAGO, IL – Not one to give up easily, Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica (R-16) will reintroduce his ordinance to repeal the full sales tax hike passed last year. His ordinance will be introduced at today’s Cook County Board meeting.
“Just because Todd Stroger and a few others on this board want to punish the taxpayers for this administration’s mismanagement of the county budget — is not a reason to give up the fight for tax relief,” said Peraica.
The board has passed rollback ordinances on several occasions, only to have Stroger’s veto upheld due to arcane board rules that require a supermajority vote to override vetoes.
“In this struggling economy, with rising unemployment, record foreclosures and skyrocketing bankruptcies, providing tax relief to our families and employers is the right thing to do,” added Peraica.
